Kenton County School officials welcome Hybrid Technology to their Bus Fleet.

The buses, manufactured by Thomas Built Buses with the Eaton Hybrid System, reduce fuel expenditures, emissions, brake wear, component maintenance, and noise.

Kentucky will have the distinction of having the largest hybrid electric school bus fleet in the nation; a total of 213 hybrid electric buses. Kenton County is one of the 22 districts awarded a share of the $13 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy allowing the district $150,000 to purchase the hybrid electric buses. The grant offsets the differential costs for local districts.
