Testimonial – Pedro Chapa
Pedro Strongly believes that education is crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty. He began his teaching career with Teach For America (TFA), an organization that shares his belief. During his first year of teaching, Pedro attended numerous professional development courses. However, only one session stood out: it was Reading Readiness from Neuhaus Education Center. Pedro was so impressed with the content and materials presented in the course that he immediately began implementing his new knowledge and materials in his pre-kindergarten classroom.
In 2009, Pedro took on the challenge of teaching reading and writing to transitioning fourth-grade students. He accepted this challenge because research shows that students who have not mastered basic reading skills by fourth grade will fall further and further behind their peers in all subjects in which reading is required. For that reason, Pedro has spent numerous days at Neuhaus gaining knowledge and experience that enables him to be a better literacy teacher. Less
