"In 2011 Start Here, Go Places. sponsored a chat event where students interviewed David Trujillo, CPA and Deputy Director for the Washington State Gambling Commission, live online. David came from a small town in eastern Washington and graduated with a college degree in a difficult field that he ultimately left. David went through many jobs before he found his place in a career, and the describes the difference between the two. To David, a job is just what you do to make money but a career is a path that takes dedication and is integrated into your life. David spent five years after college going from job to job searching for the right place and ultimately returned to college for another bachelor's degree, this time in accounting. After attending a job fair, David was hired by the Washington State Gambling Commission where accounting and law enforcement are one in the same.

In his career, David attended the police academy and worked as a special agent on embezzlement, fraud, and theft cases. He's had imense experience in an exciting branch of accounting that he shares with students in this interview.

In addition to sharing his career path with students, he answers questions, like ""Did you always know you wanted to be an accountant?"" and ""How do you break through the CPA stereotype?""
