H-arvest the referral data for planning and decision-making...During the 2007-2008 school year, Kent Island High School successfully implemented P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). As a result the number of discipline referrals fell by over 70% school wide. In this presentation the process of implementing PBIS at the secondary level is described from the planning stage through the end of the year celebrations. Viewers will gain an understanding of the “T-E-A-C-H” model where educators are encouraged to teach positive behavior just as they teach reading, math and science. Recognition and incentive programs are also discussed including the starfish award and the positive referral.
