Maya Angelou – starter Maya Angelou did many things. She wrote books and poems. She was a dancer and actress. She also tried to make the world a better place. She was born in 1928 (nineteen twenty eight) and died in 2014 (two thousand fourteen). She was African American, and many of her books and poems were about the lives of African Americans. Many English language students like to read her book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. She wrote this book when she was about forty. This book is about her life when she was young. She wrote about her life up to the age of seventeen. Her life often was difficult and unhappy. She had many problems, but she became strong. When she was a child and a teenager, she learned many things from books and she learned many things from life. In this book, she writes about these things.
