Description: This Educational Services Commission of New Jersey (ESCNJ) "Better Together" podcast features the Commission's recent collaboration with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care to provide onsite mental health professionals at its NuView Academy and NuView Academy Annex schools.
Both schools work with students 5-21 who function at or near grade level and have been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, and anxiety disorders.
The ESCNJ staff is responsible for the academic program, while Rutgers Behavioral Health Care staff manages the psychiatric and therapeutic components with onsite mental health professionals at both schools.
The Rutgers program emphasizes the link between emotional wellness and academic success, and guest discussed how it supports students deal with family issues and tragic events like school shootings.
