From the Bow Seat is a 64-minute (three part) educational documentary filmed by Linda Cabot and her teenage daughters which explores some of the environmental issues impacting the Gulf of Maine. In this excerpt, the filmmakers take a look at the cod fishery in northern New England. Cod fishing was once the economic backbone of early America. This valuable fish supported a huge fishing industry in the Gulf of Maine, but overfishing has led to a steep decline in the cod population.
