Do you have Christmas lights this big on your tree?
Of course not but my science helpers Connor and Ethan are gonna help me light up this gigantic Christmas bulb and it has to do with a closed circuit. We?re gonna turn ourselves into wires. Allow electrons to flow through us and then the bulb light up.
Okay Connor, you hold this bolt right here sticking out of the sight of this gigantic light. Hold Ethan?s hand with your other hand make sure it's gone against skin. I?m gonna hold this bolt over here let?s go ahead and turn off the light here in the studio. I?m gonna grab Ethan?s hand and look at that! The electrons are flowing in a path without any interruptions. We called that a closed circuit and the Christmas light comes on.
Let?s go ahead and turn on the studio lights. We?ll open the circuit and the light goes off.
For Hooked on Science, I?m Jason Lindsey.
Did you know, with the help of a few friends, you can “light up” your own Christmas lights? Jason Lindsey, aka “Mr. Science,” with Hooked on Science, and some kid scientists show us how to create a human circuit.
