It?s an amazing science experiment that will surprise you and one you?re going to want to try at home.
It is called the Instant Water Bottle Freeze Slam.
In a second, I?m going to take my water bottle out of my ice and salt here, and slam it on the desk.
It will instantly go from a liquid to a solid.
Take a look at the temperature inside of my container. It is about 13 degrees Fahrenheit.
Yes that is cold. And still the water in the water bottles are still a liquid.
That is because the liquid is super cooled.
Because the water is so pure in the water bottle, there is really nothing for crystallization to take place.
In other words, for that liquid to go from a liquid to solid, I need to slam it down to the desk, until I make a chain reaction that change my liquid from a liquid to a solid.
Are you ready to try it?
I need to gently move it out of my ice bath.

There is goes.
Look at that? It is going from a liquid to a solid.
Now that is pretty cool.
Let?s try the other one.
And again, going from a liquid to a solid.
An experiment, you can try at home
For Hooked on Science, I?m Jason Lindsey.
Does your bottle of water instantly go from a liquid to a solid? Probably not! Jason Lindsey aka "Mr. Science" with Hooked on Science says it can if you know the science secret. He shows us the science behind the “Instant Water Bottle Freeze Slam. Go to https://hookedonscience.org/nextgenerationsciencestandards.html for the FREE NGSS experiment guide.
