It?s me, Mrs. Ramirez.
And I?m going to preview, the mixed media station.
At this station, you will learn about the Art Elements of Color and Value.
And the Art Principles of Movement and Unity.
Don?t forget! Elements and Principles are 2 of our Quack-a-demic vocabulary words.
If you hear the words Elements or Principles, say ?Quack! Quack!? and be ready to tell all about it!
So, what are the Elements and Principles of Art, you ask?
Elements are the things that you will see in your art, like Colors and Values.
Principles are they ways you will use Color and Values to create Movement and Unity.
Today, you will glue overlapping colored tissue paper to a transparency film with white glue and a sponge.
You will have to choose between warm colors or cool colors.
Your finished product will be translucent so the light will come through illuminating the color values.
Before you start, I need 3 things on the back of your film.
Your Name, your Secret Code and the color of your table.
Once you have chosen warm or cool colors, you are ready to begin.
Make sure your film is on a platter.
Squeeze the excess glue on a sponge with one hand.
Dab the glue unto the film by pressing gently with the sponge until the entire surface is covered.
Carefully touch your finger to a colored piece of tissue paper and gently press it on the wet glue.
Take another piece and overlap the first piece.
Continue sticking and overlapping until the glue is covered.
Now use the glue sponge to press the pieces into place and quote them with another layer of glue.
Try to touch the pieces with only 1 finger from each hand or you will have a sticky-eeky mess.
Work this way by adding glue, overlapping papers, and coating with glue until your entire film is covered.
Once your film is completely covered with paper and glue, carefully carry your paper to the drying rack.
When your collage is dry, it will look beautiful on the window.
The purpose of this instructional video is to preview the MIXED MEDIA STATION in our Color Unit.
