Description: At large retail stores, inventory needs to be counted using a scanner on a regular basis. This lets the store know when to bring in new inventory, track popular items, identify how much will be moved to a new location for clearance, etc. In this video an employee is tracking inventory because the entire section is moving to another location in the store and she wants to make sure no items get lost in the move.
Description: DVDs get sent to large retail stores with plastic and tape on them. The plastic and tape needs to be removed so customers are able to purchase just one DVD. The DVDs need to be stocked in alphabetical order. In this video an employee is taking all of the green tape off of the DVDs.
Description: Whether you work in a nursery, or are rotating through the gardening department at a large retail store, you will need to know basic plant maintenance skills. In this video the employee is picking off a few dead leaves in order for the plant to look healthy. The employee then watered the plant and now it is ready to sell!
Description: Sometimes a customer will look at an item and then return it to the wrong spot. Employees need to notice when something is in the wrong location and then move the item to where it belongs. In this video there is a container of seeds that are moved to where they are supposed to be. Some of the seeds look a lot alike, so it's important to match the picture and the words on the packet.
Description: When you work in a retail store one of the tasks you will be asked to complete is called "facing" items. This means that you move items to the front of the shelf and straighten them up. This makes the isle look fully stocked, even if it is not. It also helps the store have a clean, welcome look for shoppers.
Description: In retail stores new inventory needs to be put out on the shelves. This usually leaves the employee with a box to break down. In this video the employee is breaking down the boxes in order to stack them flat in a pile.
