To many parents and teachers, video games are harmful distractions to the studies of kids. They see games as something that hinders the progress of students academically. Some would even go as far as suggesting that gaming causes kids to become violent. All of these could not be further from the truth.

While gaming can potentially become a harmful distraction and affect students' performance, they don't have to be. If game time is regulated, and kids are taught to be disciplined enough to not let gaming get in the way of their responsibilities, then playing games can be a healthy pastime. It's all in the discipline. If, say, kids know to put their things away neatly and finish their homework first before getting their hands on the controller, then there isn't any problem.
