Distractive driving isn't just when you're on your phone and looking down at a text message, distracting driving is when your eyes come off that road for a split second, just one second. Even if you're looking to your left and a mountain with beautiful blue skies and snow or you're opening that cheeseburger from McDonald's, it's all the same. It's taking your eyes off of the road. That has oncoming cars or people or anything, taking your eyes off of it. It's great to see that there is more percentage of drivers out there thinking it is unsafe to text and drive, but then again, there is only 3% less than that that have made testing and driving. 3%, that's crazy. Texting and driving. But the most concerning is the 77% still confident enough to be able to drive while being distracted. That's 77% saying that, you know, I feel confident enough that I can drive while I'm on the road with you on the other side of the road or your son or your daughter or anybody on the other side of the road, you know, that has family and people that love them. In many public severances announcements, though, you will find that the people in the tragic situation that were the positive at all say I never thought this would happen to me as a basically I never thought my distracted driving would be cause of such a brutal accident. Looking at all the blue statistics gives a great and big understanding of the distracted driving impact throughout the years. The craziest fact on there though is that text messages take 4.6 seconds to receive as well as go through. But in those short seconds, if you were going 55 mph, it comes covers a football field. So picturing someone driving through a football field with their head down a lot could happen in that much space. A child could jump out on the road, the dog could run out of the house, the car could be curving on other side of the road. And there would be another car on its path. There is a lot that could happen in that 4.6 seconds. You have your head down. Public service announcements do absolutely a great job of what they do. They take statistics, facts and realize stories and make them into a video that can touch people to give them a change of heart and direction of distracted driving, you know. Public service gives a great deal of pathos and for anyone who does not know what path it means, it's basically an emotional grab onto the audience and make them connect with the story. And also the type of pain or feeling. This picture gives you such a gas and because you know what's about to happen and why it's about to happen. This picture kind of persuades you by sticking this in your mind for the next time you know you want to go eat while driving, you'll remember the picture and kind of second guess yourself, you know? And lastly, this picture speaks volumes and gives such an impact. It's basically saying you have the gun in you decide if you want to pull the trigger and take your life as well as someone else's life while driving, or if you're going to be smart and watch the roads since you are holding the gun and in control.
