The Pledge Unit

All right, fourth graders, so today we are going to start the Pledge of Allegiance unit. In this unit, we're going to talk about symbols. We're going to talk about what the pledge means to us and what the words of the pledge actually mean themselves. So first, today, getting started, we're going to look at what is a symbol. A symbol is something that represents something else. So it's not exactly just talking about it. Just talking about the Statue of Liberty. So do you see the symbols on the pictures and think in your head, don't shout out, but let's raise our hands and talk about what these symbols mean to us, or maybe what do these symbols represent. After we talk about it, we're going to watch a brain pop video. What do we think?
