Brittni Robinson Pre-Clinical (Fall 2016)
All / Gaming / Gaming In The Classroom
This is a sixth grade beginner band class. At this point in their education, having extensive training on embouchure, the students only know how to play one note. The students have prior knowledge on articulation and this lesson is a review of the basic articulation. To expose the students to new rhythm combinations, we are playing a review game called, "Rhythm Alphabet"; each letter of the alphabet has a unique four beat rhythm pattern. The students, when called on, provide a letter, and the class as a whole verbalizes the rhythm notated. Once the four bar phrase is on the board, the students clap the rhythm, and then play the phrase on their instrument.
