What's New in Teaching Business Communication? Two Approaches to a New Textbook Topic. -- Expert Speaker: Courtland Bovee The textbooks that Bovee and Thill write lead the field in their coverage of visual media, and for the first in any business communication text, they've included a section on infographics. Infographics are a special class of diagrams that can convey both data as well as concepts or ideas. Broadly speaking, there are two types of infographics, those that are stylized collections of charts or graphs, and those that have a structured narrative. The second type, represented by Figure 9.15b go beyond this to take full advantage of the visual medium to tell stories or show interconnected processes. These infographics can be powerful communication tools, even to the point of replacing conventional reports.
