Cholera is a diarrheal condition that is caused and spread by the Vibrio cholerae, a bacterium that stimulates excessive release of water from the intestinal lining leading to sudden watery diarrhea. Other symptoms include dry skin, sunken eyes, excessive thirst, rapid, pulse rate, rapid dehydration, unusual sleepiness or fatigue, and vomiting, among others. Cholera will mostly occur in places with inadequate water supply and poor sanitation.
