A) "Proof Of Concept" - I produced, wrote, shot & edited in an effort to demonstrate the idea that we, as Educators, Instructors and Teachers, Trainers, Professionals - can produce high quality productions for little to no-budget. When flipping classrooms or teaching online, the "talking head" on a webcam doesn't always work well. This model is now being looked at by SUNY Plattsburgh as a method to add a more robust feel to online courses through the Open SUNY Initiative out of SUNY Central. B) I used the Math problems in the video to showcase to my ED-TECH I students how they should approach creating their own Educational Videos for the course assignments. During the Spring & Fall semesters, they work in teams to produce interdisciplinary videos with a running theme that can be covered by the students with a variety of backgrounds. With the Winter & Summer sessions, due to smaller class sizes, they may be on their own to produce their videos. Tech Specs for "Proof of Concept" - 1 - 10" Android Tablet mounted on a tripod to record video (use audio as a scratch track) 1 - 7" Android Tablet on the table (just under the frame of the video) to record better audio using PCM Recorder, which saves as a WAV file. 1 - iPad Mini, which was the calculator. 6 - hours of shooting, including set-ups, dry-runs, shooting, and striking down the sets by a one-man crew. Graphics created in Adobe Photoshop. Motion Graphics (lower-thirds) created in Adobe After Effects. Edited entirely in Blender - rendered out to MP4. Disclaimer - I am NOT a Math Teacher. I leave that to the professionals. :-) Your thoughts, please.
