Everyday Heroes - How We Made Our Staff and Friends Day A Little Bit Better!

My kindergarten and first grade classes learned what it meant to be an "everyday hero" during the week of 9/11. We put what we learned into action, by making a video of us brightening the day of our staff and friends. The students gained far more from the "acts of kindness" they did, than just hearing teachers talk about it. This was an age-appropriate activity to celebrate Patriot's Day. My students are too young to understand what happened on 9/11, so we shifted our focus to every day people being heroes.
