The media of paint can be Fresco, Encaustic, Tempera, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Enamel and many more. Each medium (singular) has specific characteristics due to the chemistry of dry pigments and wet liquids. An artist chooses a type of paint to carry the meaning or idea he or she wants to convey within the art.
